Want to be blessed in 2010?   Remember this! We don’t need to give to get more.  Instead, we need to give more from our heart to others that are needy because it is the right thing to do.

Tithing is the practice of giving away 10% of your income (tithe means “tenth”), usually to a charitable cause.  Some people absolutely swear by the practice of tithing and consider it integral to the process of wealth creation.

Benefits of tithing include:

• Overcoming scarcity thinking. Tithing helps you develop a greater sense of abundance.  By giving away 10% of your income, you’re programming your subconscious to believe in abundance thinking.  This can make you more open and receptive to receiving money.  If you think abundance, you’re more likely to experience abundance.
• Supporting a worthy cause. If the money you tithe is put to good use, you can financially support a cause that’s important to you.
• Achieve greater wealth. Whenever you earn more money, your tithes increase as well, so your cause(s) receive greater financial support.  This can be extremely motivating for some people.

Personally I think some people get too caught up in the specific practice of tithing and lose sight of its real purpose.  Too often I see people feeling guilty about not tithing (or not tithing enough).  Or they develop a love-hate relationship with the practice, feeling compelled to tithe even though they have mixed feelings about it.  They feel they should tithe, but they don’t completely want to tithe.

We have all been commanded to manage our own families, households and obligations. If it comes down to it, these are what should always come first. During these the hard economic times, we all — no matter our denomination –we must remember that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), and you can’t possibly be a cheerful giver if you are starving and your utilities are cut off.

And keep this in mind, tithing money is only one of many ways to serve, but certainly not the only way.  In ancient days, agriculture instead of coins was used for tithing. It’s not money that is the root of evil (actually it is the root of much good).  It is the LOVE of money that is the root of evil.  By giving, you will be blessed knowing you Love the comfort and happiness of others as much as you love yourself. Some people are workaholics. (Who, me?)  Maybe I need to tithe time as much money. Some people spend a life time educating themselves. Maybe it’s time to share that information freely with others.

In summary, if you present circumstance just does not offer you money to give, money is not the only way.  Here are some other ideas.

• Give time. Donate time to a cause you find is worthy.  Perform an act of service.
• Give information. Write articles or start a blog to share your knowledge freely with others who may benefit by it.
• Give talents. Use your skills to help someone who can’t afford to pay for them.
• Give acknowledgement. Smile at people.  Give someone a kind word today.  Acknowledge a job well done.
• Give encouragement. Be supportive of those around you.  Let others know you care about them.
• Give thoughts. Intend the best for other people.  Pray or meditate for others if those practices have meaning for you.
• Give touch. Give someone a pat on the back, a handshake, or a hug.  Give a massage.  Give a night of wild passion.

Have you ever heard this?

• The Golden Rule – Give unto others as you would have them give unto you.
• What goes around, comes around.
• What you sow you reap.
• If you help others to get what they want, others will help you get what you want.
• The More you give, the more you receive.

Or how about serial reciprocity -  where the benefactor of a gift or service will in turn provide benefits to a third party. This is where the term “Pay it forward” comes from.

As we move through these busy holidays and into 2010, I wish you and your family many blessings and a 2010 that is overflowing with abundance as you act in ways that creates the same for others.

Hope for tomorrow….

These words are from a “tag line” I used to put under my real estate investing business name.

Regardless of how much time you spend marketing, you’ll never reap the benefits if your organization isn’t in the position to capitalize on new opportunities. Utilizing the internet is crucial here, and it’s the easiest place to start, but what about the telephone? Can prospects reach you on the phone? And if they can, what image are you projecting?

By not advertising a telephone number or advertising a phone number that goes straight to voicemail, you’re putting the legitimacy of your operation in question, which will ultimately affect your bottom line. There’s no sense marketing if you can’t be trusted.

Enter the real estate call center.

Providing a variety of different services, these companies answer telephone calls on your behalf and act as an extension of your business. Instead of you paying employees, most call centers only charge for time spent handling your calls.

In terms of marketing, utilizing a call center allows you to maintain a professional image around the clock. Here is what Steve Berkowitz, Chief Executive Officer
of Move Inc, wrote in his recent article.

Many homeowners might be flinching at the latest home price reports may not be in a grateful mood right now.

But what they may not realize is that property values could be in worse shape if not for the recent actions of many unsung players in their local housing markets… …real estate investors.

Today, while investors make up less than 20 percent of all home owners, in recent months they’ve been quietly buying approximately 35 percent of all homes sold each month. Even more intriguing, investors are expected to become three times more active than typical homebuyers in the next two years, based on data from a new investor survey recently conducted for Move, Inc.

While there’s nothing new about investing in real estate, today’s climate has made it an attractive option for a wide variety of little known buyers in thousands of communities across the country. Many are typical homeowners who probably won’t or can’t sell their existing home at today’s prices.  Instead, they opt to rent them out until prices improve.  Others are taking advantage of low prices to buy second homes or retirement properties as long term investments, and then rent them until they’re ready to use the property themselves.

They also don’t fit the stereotypical deal driven buyer known as a ‘flipper.’   Most real estate investors today are beginners; only 36 percent have done more than one deal. Most are financing over 50 percent of the transaction; only 18.5 percent will use all cash.  They also have a heightened interest in their local communities; 62 are paying more attention to local home values today than they were a year ago.  Two-thirds say they’re investing for the long term and half plan to hold their properties for five years or more.

It’s also important to keep in mind that today’s investors do more than just reduce local housing inventory with their purchases.  Many repair the properties they buy and then live in them until they’re ready to sell or return them to the community as rentals or restored properties for sale.  For many it’s a labor of love; some 42 percent of investors save money by doing the work themselves.

For some, the decision to venture into real estate investing is simply a matter of economics and opportunity.  They see prospects for a 10 to 20 percent gain over five years as a real estate investor, where others see overstocked housing inventories with little chance of earning value.  They see stock market investments in today’s recessionary climate are only yielding 1.6 percent a year over five years.  They also see the potential to regain recent portfolio losses within a local housing market they know and probably lived in for many years.  It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for many that cannot and must not be ignored.

Local real estate investors are a more vital force in the marketplace today than perhaps at any other time in recent history.  They are a little known factor that’s shoring up many local housing markets.  One might even say American entrepreneurialism is helping to preserve the American dream of homeownership.

In the next few years, it’ll be very interesting to see how they fare as the market changes.  In the interim, let’s give them credit for the role they now play in helping to keep local housing markets alive
